MOHEBAN RUG GALLERY, NYC

Architectural elements used as methaphors can be perceived on several levels.
The space created for the Oriental Rug Gallery is seen as a synthesis of function and mythology.

One priority was to retain the contradiction between the two functions of a warehouse and a gallery. The mythological concept of space for the Oriental Rug Gallery (3200 sqft) was conceived as reflection of cosmos which can also be seen in the pattern of an oriental rug.
